As part of thevaluecircle’s commitment to investing in world-leading work on leadership, resilience and mental health, we are pleased to announce a fantastic new partnership with Leigh Timmis, the multi-world record holding athlete, cyclist and mental health campaigner.

From June 2024, thevaluecircle will become one of the title sponsors for Leigh’s continued onslaught on world records – beginning with Leigh’s target to complete the gruelling TransContinental Race in July 2024.

Leigh and thevaluecircle will further work together to bring Leigh’s work on leadership, resilience and mental health to a wider audience, with Leigh invited to work with many of tvc’s board and senior leadership teams over the coming year. This partnership continues thevaluecircle’s mission to find and resource the very best in organisational development, personal growth and coaching to the clients we serve.

Leigh Timmis commented, “I’m excited to partner with thevaluecircle, using my experiences and lessons from record-breaking challenges to help public sector leaders. tvc’s approach to success is in natural alignment with my own; our shared values of drive, integrity and confident leadership are central to world-class achievements, and I’m delighted to take that to the next level together.”

David Cockayne, CEO of tvc added ‘I read Leigh’s book ‘The Race of Truth’ spellbound by this remarkable achievement – not so much a review of one person’s achievements, but an exploration of resilience, risk management, and personal growth’. It’s become a must-read for our teams and I am delighted that we can further our work together, develop tools and resources – and our usual way – be different with development’

About Leigh Timmis

On the 26th of September 2018, Leigh cycled into the record books, becoming the fastest person to cycle across Europe in a time of 16 days 10 hours and 45 minutes. Leading a team of sports science experts, he pioneered an innovative ‘no compromise’ approach to ultra-endurance cycling to break the previous world record by an astonishing eight days and 17 hours. In November 2022, Leigh became a double world record holder, riding 2,230 miles – the greatest distance cycled in seven days.

These incredible achievements were built upon a unique and inspirational journey of self-discovery. In 2010, Leigh left the UK to cycle around the world on his epic, solo expedition of 44,000 miles over seven years, across 51 countries, and on a budget of only £5 per day. Pushing the limits of cycling and human endurance, he rode his bicycle in some of the most inhospitable places on Earth but also to some of the most magnificent.

Leigh’s life-changing experiences have instilled within him a deep belief in the goodness and strength of humanity. Since returning from his first epic adventure in April 2017, Leigh has focused on helping others to become better versions of themselves though motivational speeches for business and education audiences across the UK. Leigh is an ambassador for MQ Mental Health Research and is the Honorary Colonel of the Derbyshire Army Cadet Force.

Leigh’s book ‘The Race of Truth’ documenting his remarkable true story of personal transformation was published by Summerdale in 2023, and shortlisted for the Cycling Book of the Year in The Times 2024 Sports Book Awards. ‘7 Days’, the feature documentary about his astounding record-breaking ride through hurricane Nicole premiered in 2024. Leigh has also made appearances on BBC television and radio as well as delivering talks for TEDx and National Geographic.
